Download a book via SkyDrive

Over Microsoft SkyDrive available two methods of books downloading: with a pre meta description and a folder with the book.

Download books through SkyDrive with a pre meta description

• Create the meta description of the book on a PC with Digital Audio Book Server and save the file meta descriptions by clicking «Save RSS» in the program interface

• Upload the book in separate SkyDrive folder and put that folder .dab file

If you book consists of several folders, such chap01, chap02, chap03, etc. file meta description should be placed in a folder located above the level in the SkyDrive folder structure. If the book is from one folder to place it all the audio files and images, it should also save the file meta description.

• Run the application Digital Audio Book on the device with the library home page, go to the download page

• Go to the «sky drive» tab. If you are using SkyDrive for the first time in the application, it was originally will only authorize button on this tab

By pressing the button you will be prompted to enter your credentials (username and password) on SkyDrive

You may be prompted to allow your application to use confidential data and access files. Without confirmation of the request, the application will not be able to use the SkyDrive resources.

Then, the application interface is displayed SkyDrive root folder.

The structure and name folders and files in your storage may differ from the one shown in the screenshots.

To enter the subfolder just tap on folder name, to return to the above level, use the «Back» button on your device.

• Navigate through the folder structure of cloud storage to the folder with your book and tap on the file description <filename>.dab (it is highlighted elements color of your device).

You will be redirected to the book preview page

Reading .dab file and folder structure scan may take some time, which is directly scrolled on the speed of you Internet connection.

• Click the «download» button on the Application Bar, Digital Audio Book will start downloading. You will be moved back to the download page in the «downloads» tab.

Download queue Windows Phone 8 may contain only 25 elements (two active), and if the book consists of many files, due to the limitation on the application to work in the background, while deactivating the application to your download queue will not be automatically updated. It is therefore recommended at the time of loading of the book from time to time to activate the application.

In order to avoid interruption of load deactivation application is recommended to activate the Wi-Fi works in the background through the menu Settings ->Wi-Fi ->advanced -> Keep Wi-Fi on when the screen times out.

In the process of downloading books in the library, this book will be marked as «Loading …»

Selection of books in the library will transition to the download page.

When the download complited Digital Audio Book makes post-processing files of the book, image scaling, etc. it usually takes a few seconds at the end of the boot process Toast Notification will be launched:

By introducing a time credentials SkyDrive app caches them. Loads the structure of the root folder every time you go to the download page even if you do not plan to use SkyDrive. To change this behavior in the «sky drive»tab  in AppBar menu select «skidrive signout».

Download from SkyDrive by specifying the folders or files

The application provides the ability to download files from SkyDrive cloud storage by specifying the files or folders to download without any additional software. Application attempts to generate a meta description on the fly from the information available through Sky Drive or tag the files themselves, so it is desirable that, for example, the mp3 files were filled to the max ID3V1-2 tags, but even without this information, the book can be heard through the application.

Sort rules when loading folders:

• added files (sorting of file names, such as that used in a conventional file system, first numbers, then letters, and latin letters have priority)
• added files from the folders (if any)
• add files from subfolders (if any)

Files in nested folder structure will be added in the order shown in the figure below.

Filling the information about the book, which is displayed on the book preview page and in the library, to fill the first file is taken on the results of sorting:

• The book’s title is taken from the SkyDrive meta description «Album»
• The author, taken from the SkyDrive meta description «Album Artist»
• Narrator is taken from the SkyDrive meta description «Artist»
• Cover of the book, if there is a sample image files, then select the first image. If the images are not available, but there is a picture in the SkyDrive meta description, it will be chosen as the cover of the book. If you do not select any image files and there is no image in the SkyDrive meta description, then the cover of the book will be assigned a default image.

Filling the names of chapters (files): if there is, it will be used SkyDrive meta description «Title», if not file name without extension will be used.

When the download book files on the device for post-processing stage, the application will check the Lyrics media tag for filling and if it is full, then fill in the description of the contents of the chapter (file) else player interface will display the default value — «No description».

The download process:

• Connect to SkyDrive.
• Navigate to the folder containing your book.
• Activate the selection in the application by pressing the «select» on the Application Bar or tap left side of list control.

• Select a folder or multiple folders or files that are logically be merged into one book and click «download» in the application bar

You will be taken to the book preview page where you can enter the missing information or correct the information in the wrong automatic filling: Title, Author, Narrator.

Click the «download» button on the application bar, Digital Audio Book will start downloading. You will be moved back to the download page.
